Being your authentic self is not only attractive to others, but it is also fulfilling and energising for you.
A vast amount of energy is consumed when you pretend to be something you are not, even if that is to meet the expectations of people you love, depend on, or who depend on you, or to help make your way in the modern world. It is not wrong to want to please others or fit in, but it is harmful to yourself if, in doing so, you compromise your true self.
Why? - because it establishes and feeds deep-seated unconscious self-doubt and waters any inner seeds of not being enough, being unworthy, and any other core sense of insecurity.

However, if you work on being true to yourself and authentic to your inner self first and foremost and then, from that fundamental standpoint, adapt your dialogue and communication (whether actual or implied), your self-belief can be strengthened alongside your relationships with others.
Self-acceptance is a precursor to being accepted by others. The more you accept yourself, warts, wobbles, lovely bits and all, the more others will accept and like you, and rather interestingly, the more you will find yourself accepting and respecting others too.
Another aspect to consider is self-growth; to evolve, you first need awareness and acceptance of what is, along with an honest understanding and knowledge of who you truly are. If the person on retreat, attending the course, reading the self-help book, or even sitting on the mat, is far removed from what is authentically you, the teachings will not integrate or become known. Essentially, when you are separated from your true self, you build a barrier to organic growth, evolution, and ultimately your optimal happiness and well-being.
Being true to yourself opens up potential that would otherwise be closed to pretenders; however good you are at acting, nothing beats the real thing - nothing is better than the real, true you.
... Transformation is a practice in self-discovery; a deeper understanding of what is leads to increased perspective and insight. The deeper you dive, the more you come to know, and the more liberated your soul. Dive in below for inspiring self-exploration, accompanied by a sprinkling of amusement to uplift your spirit…
